This is my business card. It contains my name, title, and "contact information". I also included 5 of my favorite pieces that I made this year in digital imaging 2. Because of this, the card not only gives information about myself, but also gives examples of my works for potential clients to look at. I liked the project and the way my business card turned out. It was a very fun assignment and might be very a useful one for students interested in selling their works and designing various projects for people or businesses.

Watercolor Paintings
This are my watercolor paintings. These images are pictures that I took and then edited to create a watercolor effect. I followed a video tutorial from BlueLightningTV to make the images look as if they were painted with watercolors. I like this effect and the project was fun to do. The images came out well but I like the first image the best.

Panograph
This is my panograph design. This is a compilation of 10 pictures that I took of a fort in San Juan, Puerto Rico over spring break. To create this cohesive image, I had to import all 10 of the photographs into photoshop and then start to "assemble" the scene, almost like a puzzle. I like the way this turned out but wish I had taken more photos of the foreground and the sky to create a larger, taller image.

Self-Portrait Project
This is my self-portrait design. I basically took an image of myself on my phone (photo creds to my brother) and added a speech bubble type shape coming out of my phone. It is a simple design, but the bubble includes various things and moments that are special to me, such as my dog, Cocoa, and winning the Boys 3A VHSL Soccer State Championship. This design is pretty representative of how I keep images because they are all on my phone. I don't have them around my room or house, but rather always with me because my phone rarely leaves my side. I liked the project and the way my design turned out because it was my only idea.

Eddie Opara
Eddie Opara was born in London in 1972 and received his education of graphic design at the London College of Printing and Yale University. After earning a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 1997, he moved to New York where he worked for multiple graphic design companies. Opara worked for Imaginary Forces until he received a position at 2x4 where he later became art director. After working in this studio for several years, he decided to follow his life-long goal of creating his own graphic design company. Subsequently, Opara's studio, The Map Office, was established in 2005 in New York. Currently, Opara teaches narrative design at the University of Arts in Philadelphia and serves on the board of AIGA, the professional association for design, in New York.
This is my graphic design inspired by Eddie Opara's style. My simple design consists of oddly shaped letters to stand for AD, my initials. This is similar to Opara's style because the letters are abstract and actually designed, not just taken from a font. The use of black and white is also similar to Opara's designs which usually only contain shades of each. To stress this, I put a black/white gradiant in the background which also makes the image more appealing and less plain. I am not necessarily a fun of this style of design but like the way it turned out. Learning about these graphic designers was a fun and interesting project.

Cipe Pineles
Cipe Pineles lived from June 23, 1908 to January 3, 1991 and accomplished a lot in those 82 years. She was born in Austria but moved to New York to study graphic design. After studying at the Pratt Institute, she remained in New York in order to kick start her graphic design career. While there, Pineles was a graphic designer for various magazines, including Seventeen, Charm, and Mademoiselle. She made a name for herself through her works and became very successful and well-known, becoming the first female member of the Art Directors Club in 1943. Later, in 1975, she was inducted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame. She was in the graphic design industry for a stretch of 60 years and taught graphic design at the Parsons School of Art and Design until her unfortunate death. She is remembered as one of the first women to join men in the graphic design industry.
Above is a magazine cover that I created with the inspiration of Pineles' style and work. I chose to do a magazine cover because of her deep involvement in the industry, especially with seventeen, a magazine for young women. The cover is simple and true to Pineles' traditional designs, including a woman, the title of the magazine, and the date. Pineles' seemed to like the blur effect so I also added blur at different strengths around the image.

Their Eyes were Watching God Quote
This is my photoshop art that incorporates/interprets a quote from Zora Neale Hurston's book Their Eyes were Watching God. A suggestion was made to set the scene in Harlem so I do so by setting it in a Harlem-like subway station. Then I placed a girl walking away from the the "camera" and into the subway station with a "handsome woman" seeming to emerge from the other door. This is my artistic interpretation of the quote, which I placed in the bottom left, and I like the way it turned out.

Tattoo Design
This is my tattoo design. It is based off the infamous ancient egyptian eye but has a unique spin on it. The tattoo has an interesting pattern making up the shape of the eye with a rainbow-type color scheme. I also added "stroke" to outline the pattern more and to further bring out the shape of the eye. I liked this project and the way my design turned it out. This tattoo is aimed more towards women but who am I to say that men can't get it too!

Batesville Day T-Shirt Design
This is my t-shirt design for the 41st Batesville Day. One of the elements that had to be included was a marching band/music theme so I searched for clipart relating to that. I saw this image of a marching band member with a massive drum that would be perfect to put text inside and that's exactly what I decided to do. I like this simple design because it gets the point across and is not too complicated. It incorporates the marching band theme with one guy/image and tells what the event is and when it is. I like the way this turned!

ACPS Visual Arts Festival 2016
This is my poster for the annual Albemarle Country Public Schools (ACPS) Visual Arts Festival for 2016. One of the words that stood out to me that in title was "visual" so I tried to incorporate elements related to that. This where I got the eye concept. I downloaded the eye from the internet and manipulated it to look better. A requirement for the design was to incorporate a piece of artwork done by elementary school students so I then placed the artwork as the background with a lower opacity, to show the full image, while I placed a smaller, full opacity, version in the center of the eye. I placed the event's title, place, and time above and below the eye. Lastly, I placed the ACPS logo in the bottom right corner, another requirement for the poster. I am pleased with this design and it was fun to think of how to incorporate the artwork in the poster!

Life of Pi
These posters I made that are inspired by the movie "Life of Pi". I watched the movie and had to create two pieces of art. I decided to make two posters, one simple and elegant, and the other with more detail and meaning. The top image is my take on the simple and elegant poster. I wrote the title of the movie in a font I liked and then placed tiger claw marks over the text to create a sliced/cut effect. Lastly I overlaid the same tiger pattern onto the claw marks and the background to create a cohesive look. The image below is the more meaningful and detailed poster. First off, it gives a sense of what the movie is about. The boat and the ocean set the scene and Pi's face merged with a tiger's suggest that there is a relationship between the two. This is where the metaphorical meaning comes in. In the movie, Pi tells two stories to the journalist, one using real people and the other using animals to represent the people. The journalist figures out that the tiger represents Pi in the animal-story. Therefore I put their faces together to show their relationship.

Local Food Tourism Poster
This is my local food tourism poster of Crozet, VA. One thing I really wanted to include was the state of Virginia and a marker, a star in this case, to show where Crozet is because it is so small and relatively unknown. I then continued the theme of the star around the image where I placed my favorite restaurants. Next, I incorporated a view from Humpback Rock into the background to show the beauty of this area, even though the rock is not necessarily part of Crozet. Lastly, I placed a filter on the image to create a cohesive "color scheme". I like the way this turned out and the project was really fun, even though it made me extremely hungry!

Numbers, Letters, Tools, & Utensils
This is a collection of photos I took of numbers, letters, tools, and utensils. I took these throughout the school and edited some of them. I tried to capture these objects in a different light than how they are normally seen by changing my position, the angle, etc. I thought it was a fun project!

5 Minute Walk
This is my 5 minute walk series. I took these photos at the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas. I organized them this way to give a cohesive sense of the island. The largest image, located at the top, is a panorama of the view I had from a two-story cabana, shown in the bottom right image. The other photos are of the cruise ship moored offshore and of the island itself. I like the way this turned out and it was fun to take pictures of such a beautiful place.
