Wrapping Paper Design

This is my wrapping paper design! I chose the southern proper logo, which is a black labrador with a red bow tie on, and made my own pattern with it. This was somewhat tough but just took some trial and error to create a cohesive design/pattern. Then I chose a box to "wrap". I did this by warping the pattern onto the faces, and top, of the box. The two small faces that are not wrapped are like that because they would be on the inside of the box. I don't people wrap the inside, at least my family doesn't! Anyway I like the way this turned out because it looks realistic. Someone should definitely make my design into actual wrapping paper.

Step and Repeat Effect (NAPP Tutorial)

This is my NAPP tutorial project. I created a Step and Repeat effect from a tutorial by CB. To do this, I created an individual section/pattern and repeated it around a circle in the center. The background is a result of this repeated pattern. I finished off the image by placing a car in the center, rather than just having the effect in the background. The tutorial was fun and easy to follow. I like the way this turned out and recommend it to anyone.

Joiner Collage

This my Joiner Collage project. I took my original image of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, shown below, and created the joiner collage effect using a tutorial. The tutorial was easy to follow and actually pretty fun. I like the way this turned out but its somewhat hard to get the overall beauty of the scene because it is chopped up. Would recommend this to anyone!

Bent Landscape (Inception Effect)

This is the bent landscape that I made. I followed the tutorial step for step but the end result does not look anything like it's supposed to, except for the sky. I do not like the way this turned out because the effect is not convincing. I think it only works with certain landscapes.

Money Project

This is my money project. I had to make two bills, both the front and back, that were edited. I picked Nas, one of the greatest rappers of all time, and Donald Trump, a famous businessman currently running for president. For both of these dollar bills, I used their faces on the front while I switched it up on the back. For Nas, I put the cover of Illmatic, his debut and most famous album, in the center while I added Queensbridge tributes around the back. I also added a picture of him against a Queensbridge sign on either side. For Trump, I simply place him (his head) in the signing of the Declaration of Independence scene. I like the way these turned out, especially the Nas bill.

GIF

This is the gif that I made from an image at got at http://content.cdlib.org/ark:/13030/kt8489r0d2/. For my gif, I removed the Colonel in the middle of the newspaper and then created a gif where he slid in from one side and exited through the other. This was a simple edit but I like the way this turned out. I never knew how to make a gif, until now!

West Side Market

This is the logo that I created for the Westside Market. I originally tried to create a similar logo to this with the same text style as the WAHS logo, but I ended up changing to this more "flowy" text. I then edited the letters so that they weave in and out of each other and then added the western colors. Next I placed "market" on the bottom with alternating western colors to finish it off. I like the way this logo turned out so I am submitting it to the market to see if they like it and want it as their logo.

Sansel Portrait

This is a portrait of Sansel that I have manipulated to make more aesthetically pleasing. I placed Sansel in a field of red (his favorite color) flowers with the sun set and cloud covered sky in the background. I made the right side of his face brighter and the left darker to mimic the natural shadow that would occur in the scene. Finally I added a vignette effect that is not to noticeable on its own but makes a big difference when observed from before and after its application. I am very pleased with the way this project came out and I hope that Sansel enjoys it as well! The image shown below is the original picture that I then manipulated.

Two Posters

These are my two posters that created as part of the poster assignment. I wanted to create posters encouraging school spirit and participation in sports so I created a poster for Western Basketball and Western Soccer. For both of the images, I took action scenes of the sports and put them in the background. Both also have a logo and a slogan/message that help get the point of the poster across. I think these would be effective in encouraging people to come to games or maybe even try to participate in them themselves. The best place for these to be posted would be throughout the school, including staircases, the cafeteria, and near the gym. Digital Imaging could either distribute the posters to the teams themselves or I could post them throughout the school for them. Either way it would be a graphically fun way motivate people to get involved in Western's sports.

Kaleidoscope

This is my kaleidoscope that I created from scratch. I used the Blue Lightning TV tutorial to make this image which was very fast and easy to follow. I really like the way this turned out, although it could be brighter. The kaleidoscope does not really resemble the original image but looks cool either way. Below is the original for a comparison of the two pictures and the effects created. Because of the tutorial, I now have a kaleidoscope action that I can apply to any image with the click of a button.

Second Glance Project

(Original Picture)

This is my Second Glance Project. The original picture (as seen above) was taken by myself in Skagen, Denmark. I picked this specific picture because it is fairly busy and therefore contains more options to edit while not being too obvious. There are a total of 10 edits on this image (the edited image is below). Can you spot all of them? The answers are in the final image at the bottom. I found this project very fun in trying to create a "puzzle" that was semi-hard and had some very subtle edits. I also learned more about Photoshop and its many editing features. I highly recommend this project!

JU Project

This is my JU project consisting of three separate images adapted into one scene. The first image, which is located in the center of the piece, is my original picture of the Church of Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg, Russia. The second image is a picture of a firework explosion which I duplicated to put on both sides of the church. For both of these images I had to remove the backgrounds of the images which included the sky of St. Petersburg and the night sky respectively. For my third image I used the Russian flag and positioned it as the background. Finally I switched the collection of images from RGB color scheme to black and white to mirror the style of JU. I found this project very interesting and fun but also very tedious in isolating the images from their backgrounds.
